Correction for non-uniform k-space data weighting effects in first-pass cardiac perfusion imaging with TurboFLASH readout

چکیده
Background To obtain first-pass cardiac perfusion images, a saturation-recovery (SR) preparation can be used with TurboFLASH readout. However, non-uniform k-space weighting during the SR recovery may lead to distortion of the image point spread function; this may lead to systematic overestimation or underestimation of the imagederived arterial input function (AIF) and myocardium signals, with resulting bias in the perfusion calculations. In this work, we used numerical simulations to correct for non-uniform k-space data weighting effects on the AIF and myocardial wall signals.

Combination of Compressed Sensing and Parallel Imaging with Respiratory Motion Correction for Highly-Accelerated First- Pass Cardiac Perfusion MRI
INTRODUCTION: First-pass cardiac perfusion MRI requires fast data acquisition to achieve an appropriate combination of temporal resolution, spatial resolution and spatial coverage for clinical studies [1]. We have recently presented a combination of compressed sensing and parallel imaging (k-t SPARSE-SENSE) to highly accelerate perfusion studies by jointly exploiting sparsity in the combined sp...
متن کاملSimulation and patient studies of scatter correction in cardiac SPECT imaging
Introduction: Myocardial perfusion imaging is a nuclear medicine imaging method that is used to detect coronary artery diseases. One of the main sources of error in this imaging method is the detection of Compton scattered photons in the photopeak energy window used for data acquisition. This results in the degradation of the image contrast, and therefore decreases the...
متن کاملThe influence of misregistration between CT and SPECT images on the accuracy of CT-based attenuation correction of cardiac SPECT/CT imaging: Phantom and clinical studies
Introduction: Integration of single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) and computed tomography (CT) scanners into SPECT/CT hybrid systems permit detection of coronary artery disease in myocardial perfusion imaging (MPI). Misregistration between CT and emission data can produce some errors in uptake value of SPECT images. The aim of this study was evaluate the influence...
متن کاملTheory-based single-point T1 mapping for quantitative analysis of first-pass cardiac perfusion MRI: a validation study
Introduction: Quantitative analysis of first-pass contrast-enhanced cardiac perfusion MRI requires a conversion of the T1-weighted signal-time curve to contrast agent (Gd-DTPA) concentration-time curve. For this purpose, a theory-based single-point T1 measurement method has been proposed and validated in phantoms at 1.5T [1-2]. The specific choice of the k-space ordering of the TurboFLASH reado...
متن کاملCombination of Compressed Sensing, Parallel Imaging and Partial Fourier for Highly-Accelerated 3D First-Pass Cardiac Perfusion MRI
Introduction: First-pass myocardial perfusion MRI is a promising and noninvasive technique for evaluation of ischemic heart disease. 3D whole-heart coverage per heartbeat is desirable for clinical perfusion studies to overcome the contrast-to-noise ratio (CNR) and volumetric coverage limitations associated with multi-slice 2D perfusion MRI studies [1-2]. Highly accelerated imaging is a necessar...
